GMC Park Assistance System

What is Park Assist System?

It would be nice if you could park without running into a pole, especially if you're a new driver. What the Park Assist System does is help the motorist navigate their vehicle without hitting objects.

The system uses three different features to help ensure that the vehicle is unharmed, including Rear Park Assist, Front and Rear Park Assist, and Automatic Park Assist. This is what each feature does:

  • Rear Park Assist: When you're backing out or parking in reverse, this feature helps you avoid objects.
  • Front And Rear Park Assist: This feature works the best when you're navigating at low-speeds. If you're moving forward or backing out, you'll want this feature.
  • Automatic Park Assist: This is a fan favorite because it helps you parallel park. The motorist can follow text commands with this feature. This system also performs the braking, acceleration, and selects gears!

How Park Assistance Work?

If you're wondering how it works, you're not alone. The system will do several things when it's in action, including:

  • Flashing a visual warning on your driver display. The warning will portray bars to indicate your vehicle's “distance to object.” Additional bars might also light up, and they can change color. The colors range from yellow to amber to red, based on how close the object is to your model.
  • You'll hear a beeping sound as you get closer to an object.
  • Your vehicle's seat will pulse (if your vehicle has a Safety Alert Seat).
  • Look for the warning icon on your Camera Display.
